I’ve always felt that e-vites or digital invitations, should offer the same options as traditional custom invitations, minus postage. A little over two years ago while searching for my baby shower invitations, (yes, the Maimi wedding planner in me had to have a say in something ;-)….) I struggled with finding an e-vite that allowed me to customize font color and styles, add a personalized stamp, or offered various colored envelope options. But then I found Greenvelope.com. I love…love….love this digital invitation company. I can’t say enough about it, wait…did I tell you how much I love it ;-). [Read more…]

I’m so thrilled to announce that Jessica Albers Calligraphy and Illustration will be coming to Pensacola this July for a modern calligraphy workshop. She will be teaching a half day course that will cover basic letter structure, technique and simple layout design principles that will benefit you as you go on to progress in your new skill. Each student will receive a calligraphy kit as part of their course fee and will receive one-on-one time with the instructor throughout the workshop.
Why I’m so excited about this workshop!!!
Have you ever looked at all those Pinterest wedding boards and paused just for a sec when looking at handwritten signage or pretty envelopes? It was most likely modern calligraphy that peaked your interest. In fact, you have probably been seeing it everywhere and maybe you’re like me, wishing you could learn too. I see so many practical things it could be used for:
• Home entertaining (place cards, cute signage)
• Addressing envelopes to clients, family and friends
• Quick thank you notes
Who would love this workshop?
Anyone who has always wanted to learn this fun skill would enjoy coming to this workshop. It also might appeal to a bride who would like to address her own wedding invitation envelopes or wants to create some cute signage. A wedding planner, event planner, florist or wedding professional might also find this course useful for décor purposes.
The workshop will be hold at the Lee House from 1-4pm on July 11th.
If you’re interested in coming to this July 11, 2015 Modern Calligraphy Workshop, be sure to register here.
The bridal trends for 2014 are here and eagerly waiting to be put to good use. True romance is predicted to be the influential factor in this year’s weddings. Lush soft colors, classic chivalry, themes of love and assorted warm and fuzzies will be making a come back just you wait and see. Brides are looking for lasting enduring memories of their beautiful moment in 2014.
Dresses- You’ll be seeing a few different fashion forward looks this year. Jeweled necklines has made an impression in the bridal world. Why is this exciting? Those embroidered rhinestone and crystals will be captured by your photographer since most portraits are taken from the waist up. Dramatic backs and sleek silhouettes will also be making an appearance this year in your local dress shop. And be prepared to see capped sleeves.
Color Palette- Think Pink. Pink is the new white this year! Going back to the 2014 being the year of romance, you’ll be seeing blushes, peaches and nudes taking center stage in wedding colors. Chevron is the pattern of the past, look out for trellis-patterns, bold stripes and florals.
Cakes- The trend this year for everyone’s favorite wedding culinary concoction- texture. Lots and lots of texture. Expect to see soft ruffles and frills on wedding cakes this year.
Decor- Vintage decor is still in demand; however, how vintage will it go this year? All the way back to the 1920’s era! Expect to see the unique lighting option of a marquee with the couple’s initials or cute little words like “love” or “sweetie”. This is also the year of flower power. Don’t be surprised to walk into a wedding reception and be greeted by flower’s galore. You might see them in elaborate displays over tables, on escort card tables, seating arrangements or maybe a flower wall or two.
