Country Villa Wedding
Frances and John’s Country Villa Wedding was full of bold and bright colors with cheerful touches. This Norfolk wedding planner can’t help but smile at this bright sunflower wedding day. Behind the camera Ryland James Photography and Videography put in some beautiful work.
Their Love Story
In the fall of 2014, John and Frances began their senior year at Old Dominion University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Frances had lived locally in Virginia Beach from a very young age, commuting to ODU for what would be her fifth and final year. John, on the other hand, had recently moved to Chesapeake only a few weeks before, transferring from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. On the first day of classes, both John and Frances attended their first session of Thermodynamics II in Kaufman Hall, home of ODU’s College of Engineering. When class concluded, John stopped Frances in the hallway outside of their classroom to compliment her on her Legend of Zelda backpack. After this simple exchange, the two realized that they were in a majority of their classes together that semester. Both voted to join the same senior design project – SAE Mini Baja – whether intentionally or accidentally is still being debated. After the first week, the two spent a growing amount of time together as the semester progressed. As they were not only schoolmates but also team members on their senior design project, Frances and John were first cautious to push their relationship beyond friendship. This was especially true for Frances, who had her little boy Krys to think of as well. However, after a few simple-but-sweet friendly outings to get ice-cream or sushi, they decided to be honest about their feelings and go on a real date. Frances had requested that they take a ride on John’s motorcycle, a 1984 Honda Interceptor VF700F. She had never ridden on a motorcycle before. On that Friday night, Frances met John at ODU, and they set off on the most memorable ride of her life. They rode for a while through downtown Norfolk as the sun set. They stopped to eat at MacArthur Mall, getting a table at Chili’s overlooking the Norva and the city surrounding them. They saw the movie Fury, which they both enjoyed, and shared a first kiss before back off into Norfolk, now illuminated by streetlights and the local night life. Frances felt that she had been swept off her feet.
Wedding Theme and Sentimental Things
Frances and John’s wedding was filled with lovely cheerful details and a truly heartwarming ceremony. They blue like the color blue and so they decided to have blue as their wedding color. Frances thought that sunflowers were a good summer flower and add them to the bouquets and decor. One of the sweetest moments of their wedding was when Krys, Frances’ son, was included in the sand ceremony.
