The Maid of honor is a huge role in support for the bride. Let’s think about how tremendous her life is getting ready to change. She is getting ready to say I do to the love of her life, until death does them apart. This is a huge step for her, so you want to be their to lend every shoulder, tissue, or ear when possible. Listen to the bride, help her stay calm through the planning process, ask questions, and most importantly you are in charge of all the other bridesmaids. On the day of, make sure they have what they need, bouquets, shoes, jewelry, so the bride is not stressing about any of these minor details. Also, providing a hand where it is necessary. Make sure you are with the bride every step of the way offering help when needed.
With everything else that is going on, you want to make sure the bridal shower is something the bride doesn’t have to even think about. This can be something simple, or big whatever you, as the maid of honor want to do. Allow the guests to feel welcome, by seating them at their table, showing them where different things are that you have set up for the bride, but most importantly make it fun. The shower is a way to pour out your love for the bride, so make it as special as possible. Include the other bridesmaids, so it’s not as stressful for you, however make sure the bride doesn’t have to lift a finger. Have a brunch themed shower, or a cute quaint tea shower. Whatever you decide, allow the bride to feel showered with all the love, gifts, and kind words from her friends and family. These are just a couple duties of the maid of honor, but overall be their for the bride, and make sure she has whatever she needs, when you do that I guarantee you will be the best maid of honor yet.
Is She Bridesmaid Material?
If the bride loves to create, cut, and envision different projects for her big day, here is a huge duty for you. With all weddings, there is probably one or two DIY projects, that most brides have had to tackle more than once, However, what better than to have your maid of honor help you along the way. Schedule times to meet, so you know your projects are staying on task. Throw on some music, eat some food, invite the other bridesmaids and make a fun day out of it. This is also a great way, to reminisce, talk, and share moments before the big day approaches. Help the bride in anyway you can, to assure her, you are there every step of the way.
On the bride’s big day you want to make sure, you are double checking with the coordinator, as well as other vendors to help the bride stay on time. For example, double check with everyone to make sure they have their timeline, everyone knows when certain things are supposed to start, and most importantly the bridesmaids and brides are getting ready on time. If the bride does not have an official wedding coordinator, this is where you come in, keep everything aligned, but most importantly calm. Keeping track of the time, and making sure everyone else is will come long a way on the big day. All of these duties hold their own weight to each bride, however as long as you there from beginning to end for your bride, you will be the best maid of honor.
